Aliaksandr Lukashenka congratulated Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on the holding of elections to the Kurultai, the unicameral parliament.
“The convincing victory of Adilet party candidates and the high turnout among citizens confirm popular support for the course you are pursuing to strengthen statehood and carry out political and socio-economic reforms, marking the beginning of another stage in the life of the Republic of Kazakhstan,” the congratulatory message said.
Lukashenka said he values the established “relations of trust and mutual understanding” and hopes for deeper strategic partnership between Minsk and Astana.
The Kurultai elections were held on Aug. 23. The centrist Adilet party, which supports Tokayev, won 71.17% of the vote.
