Alexander Lukashenko questioned the peacemaking achievements of U.S. President Donald Trump. Speaking at the Minsk Conference on Eurasian Security, he said the American president may have ended six or seven conflicts, while there are about 50 ongoing wars worldwide.
“In the field of security, unfortunately, there still remain a huge number of problems that require discussion and, most importantly, solutions. Recently, progress has been made — I hope long-term — in resolving several long-standing conflicts. For example, Azerbaijan and Armenia signed a peace agreement, and the two-year war in Gaza has stopped. But this is only the beginning — we hope it is a good one.
In other hotspots, there are no signs of hope. At the previous conference, I mentioned that around 50 armed conflicts of varying intensity are taking place in the world — the highest number since the end of World War II. So there’s nothing surprising in the claim that Trump allegedly prevented six or seven conflicts or wars. There are 50 ongoing — that’s not very many by comparison,” he said.
