Lukashenka Signs Law on 2026 Budget

On December 29, Alyaksandr Lukashenka signed the law on the republican budget for 2026.

“The adopted budget ensures the fulfillment of all the state’s social obligations and maintains the sustainability of public finances,” Lukashenka’s press service reported.

Budget revenues were approved at 54.4 billion rubles, while expenditures were set at 58.7 billion rubles. Compared with the current year, revenues will increase by 12.4%, and expenditures by 10.4%.

The main increase in revenues will be provided by value-added tax, personal income tax, profit tax, and receipts from foreign economic activity. The tax burden for the overwhelming majority of taxpayers remains unchanged.

The budget also provides for increased funding in priority areas, including science, the agro-industrial complex, and export support.

The republican budget deficit was approved at 4.3 billion rubles, which amounts to less than 1.5% of GDP.
