Lithuanian border guards detained a local resident near the border with Belarus who was transporting cigarettes bearing Belarusian excise stamps on an electric scooter.
A total of 1,000 packs of NZ Gold cigarettes were seized from the man.
The man had previously been held liable for illegally transporting excise goods. It also emerged that his CityCoco Electric Harley scooter had not been properly registered, although Lithuanian law requires scooters of this power to be registered.
The scooter and cigarettes were seized, while the man faces another administrative proceeding. He could face a higher fine because this is not his first offense.
