Two railway accidents in Lithuania last week showed no signs of sabotage, Lithuanian Prime Minister Inga Ruginienė said.
“We do not see sabotage in these cases; in both instances there were technical and human errors,” she told journalists after a meeting of the government’s National Security Commission, writes LRT.
The causes of the two accidents are being established, Lithuanian Transport Ministry Chancellor Tomas Daukantas said.
According to him, in one case wagons carrying crushed stone derailed because of overheating bearings and wagon running gear. In the second case, according to preliminary information, the train was directed onto the wrong track.
On Friday, May 1, several wagons carrying crushed stone derailed at the Gudžiūnai station. On Saturday, May 2, a locomotive and four freight wagons carrying methanol derailed in the Kaunas district.
