A column of the “Immortal Regiment” in Brest will take place on May 9 as part of the “Belarus Remembers. We Remember Everyone” procession, the Russian House in Brest reported.

By decision of the “Coordination Council of Organisations of Russian Compatriots at the Russian Embassy in Belarus”, the coordinator of the “Immortal Regiment” in Brest has been named as Sviatlana Smirnova, head of the Brest branch of the Russian Society.

Earlier, pro-Russian activist Andrei Herashchanka asked for permission to hold “Immortal Regiment” marches in Belarusian cities.

“In view of our shared approach to preserving the memory of the Great Patriotic War, we have appealed to the authorities of the Republic of Belarus to allow Russian compatriots, Russian citizens and willing Belarusians to hold an ‘Immortal Regiment’ march as part of the May 9, 2026 celebrations in Minsk, regional centres and major cities of the Republic of Belarus.

We believe that the ‘Immortal Regiment’ march should be an element of the nationwide ‘Belarus Remembers’ campaign. The inclusion of ‘Immortal Regiment’ units within ‘Belarus Remembers’ columns demonstrates the unity of Russia and Belarus, Russians and Belarusians in commemorating Victory Day. The experience of such cooperation proved successful during the organisation of May 9 events in 2024 and 2025″, he said.
