Polish border guards found beaver skins in the possession of a German citizen crossing the Belarusian-Polish border. The man did not have the documents required to transport them across the border, the Lublin Customs and Tax Office in Biała Podlaska reports.
The two tanned skins were discovered at the Terespol checkpoint during an inspection of a car entering Poland. The driver said he had owned the skins for six years. He said he was unaware that transporting them across the border without a special permit was prohibited.
Polish customs authorities have opened a criminal case.
