Transport Inspectorate Receives New Powers

The Belarusian Council of Ministers has approved a new version of the regulations governing the Transport Inspectorate.

According to the government’s press service, the inspectorate is receiving the following new functions:

  • issuing travel form templates for international road passenger transport in non-regular services,
  • collecting state duties,
  • issuing legally binding orders to legal entities and individuals, including individual entrepreneurs, to eliminate violations of road traffic legislation,
  • holding those responsible accountable.

The head of the Transport Inspectorate will also be able to issue directives, approve staffing schedules and determine expenditure on maintaining the body.
