It has become known about the detention of Valer Krasnahir, an aesthete and intellectual of Belarusian fashion, a figure who stood at the origins of the fashion industry in Belarus. As reported by “Christian Vision,” he was detained together with his wife Volha Muskaya last week.
According to preliminary information, security forces came to the couple’s home. Contact with them has been lost since at least last Thursday. The reasons for the detention and the status of Volha and Valer remain unknown.
In the 2010s, Valer Krasnahir was the editor of the cult magazine Filet, which approached fashion not as gloss but as part of philosophy and culture.
In recent years, Valer, together with his wife Volha, had been actively involved in the life of the Catholic community in Minsk. It was their affiliation with the faith community that became the basis for the first reports of their detention.
