Belarusian Economy Minister Wants Diamond Cluster In Sakha Republic

Head of Sakha Republic (Yakutia) Aysen Nikolayev and Belarusian Economy Minister Yury Chabatar discussed supplies of Belarusian machinery, railway logistics, the creation of a diamond cluster and digital film distribution on Sept. 8. The press service of the head of the Republic of Sakha reported this.

The meeting reviewed the results of the seventh session of the bilateral working group. The sides also discussed the implementation of agreements reached by Nikolayev  and head of the Lukashenka Administration Dzmitry Krutoi at the Eastern Economic Forum.

Yakutia is considering purchasing BELAZ mining dump trucks, as well as passenger, municipal and agricultural vehicles. According to the press service, mining companies in the region are interested in BELAZ machinery.

The sides also discussed direct rail deliveries of Belarusian goods to Yakutia and the work of the Yakutia Railways representative office in Minsk. According to Chebotar, this arrangement has reduced delivery times to two weeks.

Another topic was the possible participation of Belarusian enterprises in the creation of a diamond cluster in Yakutia. In particular, the sides discussed the use of the experience of the Homiel-based Kristall enterprise in processing precious stones.

The sides also considered cooperation in high technology and digital film distribution.
