Belarusian customs authorities have seized goods worth 1.2 million rubles that were being transported from Russia. According to the State Customs Committee, a special operation is being conducted on the border with Russia to protect the domestic market.
“A total of 17,000 items of clothing, footwear, phone cases, bags, cutlery and other goods intended for individuals were being transported from Russia in the luggage compartments and trailer of a scheduled passenger bus,” the committee said in a statement.
There were no documents authorising the transportation of the goods. The items were also not marked with the required control labels.
“Administrative proceedings have been initiated against the Belarusian legal entity that owns the scheduled passenger bus under Articles 13.12, 13.24 and 13.36 of the Code of Administrative Offences of the Republic of Belarus,” the State Customs Committee added.
