In 2026, the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection, together with the healthcare system, will launch a pilot project to introduce electronic sick leave certificates, which at the initial stage will be issued only for pregnancy and childbirth. This was announced by Labour and Social Protection Minister Andrei Labovich at the ministry’s final board meeting, BelTA reported.
“Depending on the results of this experiment, we will make a decision on the further implementation of this practice nationwide,” he said.
According to Labovich, the ministry’s system is already highly digitalised.
“We have more than 18 information resources that we use. Our task is to move to a proactive working format, in which we seek to make maximum use of all available state information resources. This will significantly simplify the process for citizens to obtain the necessary certificates and documents for the assignment of pensions, benefits and sick leave payments. We will actively develop in this direction,” the minister added.
