Zrobim Architects Co-Founder May Have Been Detained Again

Andrei Makouski, co-founder of Zrobim architects, may have been detained again. A post appeared on his Threads account 17 hours ago stating: “Greetings from the pre-trial detention centre! Pay your taxes in full, guys!”

The previous post, about one of the studio’s latest projects, was published two days earlier.

It should be recalled that law enforcement officers visited the ZROBIM architects office on April 9 and 10. Employees present at the studio were detained. A Telegram channel affiliated with the security services linked the detentions to a social media post by Makouski in which he described receiving a letter from state authorities requiring the company to hire an in-house ideologist. It was later reported that the authorities’ claims against Zrobim architects were related to tax evasion.

“It was not entirely a cash-in-envelope salary scheme. We had a bonus component that was paid to employees in addition to their salaries, and taxes were not paid on it. I fully regret this and admit my guilt. Also, part of the contract amounts was not fully reflected in the documentation, and taxes were not paid on those amounts either.

I sincerely understand that in pursuit of earnings, one wants to maintain and increase income levels. But you never think about the other side of the issue. We immediately cooperated with the investigation. I confessed right away and voluntarily reported myself because I understood that it was wrong,” Makouski said in a report produced by state propagandists.

On April 26, Makouski reappeared on social media, publishing a post about renderings for one of the studio’s projects.

ZROBIM architects is a Belarusian architectural studio founded in 2011 by Andrei Makouski and Aliaksei Karabliou. The company operates both in Belarus and abroad and regularly receives international awards. Last year, its school project in the Novaya Baravaya district of Minsk won the IIDA Global Excellence Award 2025 in the Education category.
