On 30 November 2025 at 18:09 (GMT+2), temporary airspace restrictions were introduced over Vilnius Airport, the airport’s press service reported.

The restrictions will remain in place until 21:00 (GMT+2).

“According to initial information, the decision to impose airspace restrictions was influenced by navigation signatures characteristic of balloons moving in the direction of Vilnius Airport,” the statement said.

Meteorological balloons are used by smugglers to transport cigarettes from the territory of Belarus to Lithuania.
