State Secretary of the Security Council of Belarus Alyaksandr Valfovich believes that a Venezuelan scenario cannot occur in Belarus because security forces and the people cannot betray Alyaksandr Lukashenka.
Valfovich suggested that the United States managed to detain Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro due to betrayal within his inner circle.
“In the territory of Venezuela, unfortunately, the factor of betrayal toward the president, toward the authorities, probably worked. To fly so boldly and safely over another state’s territory in helicopters without even receiving warning shots — this is simply impossible,” Valfovich told Belarus 1 TV.
The State Secretary is convinced that such a scenario cannot happen in Belarus.
“In our country this is impossible, first, because people in uniform are incapable of betrayal. The Belarusian people — we cannot betray our president, we simply have no right to do so,” Valfovich said.
He stressed that Belarus has prepared the necessary documents for “impossible situations.”
“And second, as the president has said, we have adopted all the legislative documents at the level of the Security Council so that regardless of whether the president is at his workplace or not, the Security Council gathers, makes decisions and the governance of the country is not lost for a minute. Therefore, order, security and manageability in our country do not depend on one specific person. All necessary legislative acts have been adopted, and there are operational algorithms. God forbid they ever be needed — and I think they never will — because we have a different mentality, our people, our Belarusian people and our security forces have a completely different mentality. We were raised differently. We were taught differently to love our homeland, to love the Belarusian people,” Valfovich said.
Last week, Lukashenka also claimed that Maduro was detained as a result of conspiracy and betrayal, and emphasized that a Venezuelan scenario is unrealistic in Belarus.
