An unidentified aerial object, possibly a drone, fell and exploded in Lithuania’s Varėna District. The incident occurred near Lake Lavysas, located about 15–20 km from the Belarusian border.
“According to preliminary data, the object (possibly a drone) crossed Lithuania’s border during the night and fell in the Varėna District, near Lake Lavysas,” the National Crisis Management Centre said, as cited by BNS.
It has not been reported from which country the object entered.
Debris is visible at the scene. Police and fire and rescue services are working there.
According to LRT, the drone fell at around 3:04 a.m. Lithuanian time. In a video obtained by the редакция, the sound of a flying object can be heard, followed by an explosion a few seconds later.
