Ukraine has introduced a special border regime in a one-kilometer-wide strip along its borders with Belarus and Russia. It will remain in effect for the duration of martial law.
“This is due to the need to address urgent issues related to strengthening the state’s defense capabilities amid the Russian Federation’s ongoing armed aggression against Ukraine and the possible use of the territory of the Republic of Belarus to destabilize the socio-political situation in border regions, conduct intelligence and subversive activities, and create conditions for threats to Ukraine’s national interests,” the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine (SBGS) said.
Within the one-kilometer-wide strip along the borders with Russia and Belarus, unrestricted entry, presence, residence and movement of people are prohibited, as is any work unrelated to repelling armed aggression against Ukraine, national defense or protection of the state border.
