Two men will stand trial on charges of aiding the infliction of property damage without elements of theft. They allegedly helped 211 university graduates obtain fictitious job placements to fulfill mandatory work assignment requirements.

According to the case materials, between December 2018 and July 2024, the defendants arranged fictitious employment for graduates and prepared the documents required by job assignment commissions. The graduates did not actually work for the companies controlled by the defendants. In this way, they allegedly “assisted” at least 211 graduates.

“The defendants posted advertisements online to find individuals interested in fictitious employment, advised them while acting as executives of affiliated legal entities, prepared, signed and submitted documents to job assignment commissions, arranged the completion and signing of employment contracts, confirmations of work assignment certificates, and other documents allegedly confirming that the graduates had worked at their assigned jobs. They personally determined the amount of their remuneration and the methods of payment,” the Minsk Prosecutor’s Office said.

The criminal case has been referred to court. One of the defendants remains in pretrial detention, while the other has been released under a personal guarantee.
