On the morning of Sept. 1, officers of Poland’s Central Anticorruption Bureau (CBA) detained two IT specialists who had previously worked with Belsat TV, former Belsat director Agnieszka Romaszewska said on Facebook.
“Today at 6 a.m. the CBA detained two IT specialists who had provided services to Belsat for many years. One of them is Szymon Puacz, whom I know as a very honest, committed person and an excellent specialist.
As is known, more than two years ago, TVP in liquidation, represented by liquidator Mr. Gorgosz, filed an unfounded complaint with the prosecutor’s office alleging that I, together with employees, had supposedly stolen 5 million zlotys by paying for allegedly fictitious IT services.
Many interrogations have been conducted in this case, including mine, and as far as I know, Szymon Puacz was available to investigators all this time and dreamed of being questioned. In particular, he testified in court as a witness in a case I brought against TVP over my dismissal. But that would have been too simple, so a circus was needed to take him from his home at 6 a.m., where he happened to be alone with four children at the time”, Romaszewska wrote.
Romaszewska called it disgusting when honest people are turned into criminals.
She noted that between 2020 and 2026, at least 20 Belsat employees ended up behind bars in Belarus, but none of them were detained because of mistakes by IT specialists. Romaszewska believes that the persecution of former television employees in Poland will only please Belarusian propaganda.
It should be recalled that in March 2024, Agnieszka Romaszewska was dismissed as director of Belsat after 17 years in the position. The television channel underwent restructuring and ceased to be an independent unit. The Belarusian, Ukrainian and Russian editorial teams were transferred under the management of TVP’s Foreign Programming Centre.
In 2024, the CBA launched an investigation into possible financial irregularities. As the Warsaw District Prosecutor’s Office said, the investigation concerns the issuance of fake invoices totaling 5 million zlotys for IT services that were not actually provided. The television channel’s former management denies the allegations.
