Two Enterprises in Brest Region Fined Over Prices

The Ministry of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade has held two enterprises in the Brest region liable for violating pricing rules. The Economic Court of Brest Region imposed fines on both companies.

“Berestye Greenhouse Complex OJSC (Brest District) increased prices for tomatoes by up to 209.9% (for example, the wholesale price for medium-sized fresh yellow tomatoes before the increase was 3.04 roubles per kilogram, and afterwards 9.42 roubles per kilogram), sweet peppers by up to 291.7% (the price before the increase was 2.17 roubles per kilogram, afterwards 8.5 roubles per kilogram), and cucumbers by up to 7.9% (the price before the increase was 4.78 roubles per kilogram, afterwards 5.16 roubles per kilogram).

MRPi LLC (Kobryn) increased prices for certain types of chicken eggs by up to 13%,” the ministry said.

Neither company was able to justify the increase in wholesale prices. It was noted that the accounting systems at the enterprises did not allow for separate tracking of costs for specific types of goods.

The ministry issued orders, and both companies rolled back the price increases. The court imposed a fine of 11,000 roubles on Berestye Greenhouse Complex OJSC and 13,500 roubles on MRPi LLC.

At the same time, the proceedings against the greenhouse complex were made public.
