Russian Citizen Detained At Minsk Airport With Passport Issued Under False Identity Details

A Russian citizen was detained while attempting to illegally cross the border from Belarus to Turkey through Minsk National Airport. The man presented border guards with a passport issued under false identity details.

According to the State Border Committee, an automated border control system determined that the photograph in the document matched the holder’s appearance by 98%. However, the officer noticed that the man’s age clearly did not correspond to the age stated in the passport.

The foreign national was detained. Administrative proceedings have been initiated against him for attempting to illegally cross the border. He faces a fine of up to 100 basic units.

In addition, the use of a forged document may result in criminal liability. Further proceedings are underway.
