Two Belarusian Companies Fined for Unfair Competition and Cartel Collusion

Belarus’ Ministry of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade has identified cases of unfair competition and cartel collusion. Two companies were held administratively liable and fined.

Unfair competition was found in the actions of MGC Stal LLC. The company sent letters containing false information about the quality, consumer properties, and methods and conditions of production of goods sold by its competitor, Zapadnaya Metallurgicheskaya Kompaniya LLC.

MGC Stal was brought to administrative liability. The Economic Court of Minsk ordered the company to pay a fine of 200 base units (9,000 Belarusian rubles), while the responsible official was fined 35 base units (1,575 Belarusian rubles). The company appealed the decision, but the Supreme Court rejected the appeal.

Cartel collusion charges were brought against the crop protection products manufacturer Frandesa LLC and its dealers, Master Urozhaya LLC, Otkryty Gorizont LLC, and Mir Zashchity LLC. They were held administratively liable and fined a total of more than 700,000 Belarusian rubles. Responsible officials at each entity were fined 100 base units (4,500 Belarusian rubles) each.
