The Interior Ministry press service reported another case in which traffic police officers used a weapon to stop a driver who violated the law.
The incident took place in the Chausy district on the road between Tsiamrovichy, Vaskovichy and Harodnia. A traffic police patrol signalled for an Audi driver to stop. He ignored the order, and a pursuit began.
“The man ignored repeated lawful demands to stop, only increasing his speed and creating a real threat to the life and health of other road users. After warning that a weapon would be used, the inspector fired shots at the tyres”, the Interior Ministry said.
The driver turned out to be a 40-year-old resident of Mahilyou who had previously been stripped of his licence for drink-driving. Four administrative reports were drawn up against him. He is being held in a temporary detention facility. The car has been placed in a secured parking lot.
