Three Attempts To Import Drones And Aircraft Models Detected By Hrodna Border Guards In Several Days

Over several days, servicemen of the Hrodna border group detected three attempts to illegally bring a drone and radio-controlled aircraft models into Belarus from abroad.

According to information from the State Border Committee, on Aug. 29, a Belarusian citizen was detained at the Berastavitsa border crossing while attempting to bring into the country an aircraft model purchased abroad from Poland.

The following day, at the Bruzgi border crossing, border guards found a drone, a remote control and batteries in the vehicle of a German citizen entering the country.

On Sept. 1, at Bruzgi, border guards prevented another attempt by a Belarusian citizen to bring an aircraft model into the country.

In all three cases, the items found were confiscated. Administrative proceedings were launched against the men under Part 1 of Article 18.38 of the Code of Administrative Offenses. The article provides for a fine of up to 30 base units (1,350 rubles).

Since the beginning of 2026, Hrodna border guards have reported preventing 11 attempts to bring unmanned aerial vehicles into Belarus.

The agency recalled that under a decree dated Sept. 25, 2023, individuals are prohibited from importing into Belarus, storing, circulating, operating and manufacturing civilian drones and aircraft models, as well as from using Belarusian airspace for civilian unmanned aerial vehicles.
