Su-7B Monument Aircraft Returns To Minsk’s Stsiapyanka After Restoration

The Su-7B monument aircraft has returned to the Stsiapyanka neighbourhood of Minsk’s Partyzanski district after restoration. The work was carried out at the facilities of the Minsk Civil Aviation Plant No. 407, where the aircraft had been sent on March 3.

“Upon completion of all planned work, the aircraft returned to the district today”, the Partyzanski district administration reported.

The jet fighter-bomber was installed in the neighbourhood more than 40 years ago in memory of Soviet pilots. During the restoration, the aircraft’s tail number was changed to “29” in honour of Hero of Belarus Uladzimir Karvat, who in 1996 died while steering a falling aircraft away from a populated area. This was the number on his aircraft. The main street of the neighbourhood has also been renamed in Karvat’s honour.
