Siarheenka Takes Part in Myanmar President’s Inauguration

Chair of the House of Representatives Ihar Siarheenka took part in the inauguration of Myanmar President Min Aung Hlaing.

He was joined in taking the oath of office by First Vice President Nyo Saw and Second Vice President Nan Ni Ni Aye.

“Min Aung Hlaing’s candidacy for the post of president was supported by the majority of lawmakers in the Assembly of the Union on April 3, 2026.

In accordance with Myanmar’s Constitution, the president is elected for a five-year term”, the House of Representatives press service said.

Min Aung Hlaing came to power as a result of a military coup in 2021. Since then, he had headed the interim government. Myanmar held its first parliamentary elections since the coup this winter. A quarter of the seats went to lawmakers appointed by the military. Ahead of the election, several parties were banned.
