Shuleika Reports Grain Surplus in Belarus

Belarus will produce more grain this year than it consumes. Deputy Prime Minister Yury Shuleika said this in an interview with Belarusian television.

“It has been a rich year. I want to say that we will have more than 11 million tonnes of grain: 10 million tonnes of grain and 1 million tonnes of rapeseed seed.

A large harvest. And it should be noted that for almost two years we have had a grain surplus. You may recall when we had to turn to the Russian Federation to purchase fodder, but today many farms in our country are objectively offering their grain for sale. But we are maintaining this balance, which we need. The grain is being stored well. We are carrying out exchanges under our state programmes — specifically the stabilisation grain funds, the state order, and so on,” he said.

According to Shuleika, Belarusian farmers are expected to earn about USD 9 billion in export revenue this year.
