The Eurasian Development Bank says in its weekly review of the economies of EADB member states that inflationary pressure in Belarus is easing. Last week, Belstat reported that annual inflation slowed from 7.1% to 6.9% in October.
“The growth rate of prices for non-food goods fell to 2.5% year-on-year in October from 2.9% year-on-year in September, and in the services sector to 7.6% year-on-year from 7.9% year-on-year, respectively. Food inflation remained at 9.8% year-on-year. Faster price growth for seasonal vegetables and fruit (up to 10.1% year-on-year from 7.6% year-on-year) is limiting the slowdown in food inflation,” the review says.
Focusing on core inflation, the bank’s analysts also report a decline in overall inflationary pressure.
“The slowdown in the growth of the sustainable component of prices indicates weakening overall inflationary pressure: core inflation fell to 7.1% year-on-year in October (7.5% year-on-year in September),” the EADB says.
