Moldova to Establish Parliamentary Group “For a Democratic Belarus”

A parliamentary group, “For a Democratic Belarus”, is being established in Moldova. Its membership has effectively been finalised, while the formal legal procedures to establish the group are expected to be completed in September. The Parliamentary Channel reported this, citing Anatol Liabedzka, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya‘s adviser on parliamentary cooperation.

Liabedzka is currently in Chișinău, where he met with Igor Grosu, speaker of the Moldovan parliament, as well as members of the future parliamentary group.

Liabedzka conveyed warm wishes from Tsikhanouskaya to Grosu. Grosu said that a democratic Belarus and Moldova share the common goal of becoming part of the European community. He added that Moldova is ready to share its experience of European integration and implementing reforms.

Grosu stressed that the establishment of the parliamentary group would be an important step in developing cooperation with Belarus’ democratic forces.
