Severe Weather Disrupts Power Supply in 227 Settlements Over 24 Hours

Severe weather disrupted power supply in 227 settlements over the past 24 hours, Belenergo reported. The largest number of outages occurred in the Hrodna, Homyel, and Minsk regions. Power lines were damaged due to snow accretion and icing.

As of 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday, 19 emergency repair teams were involved in eliminating the consequences of the severe weather.

“Power supply organizations continue continuous monitoring of the situation. Today during the daytime, precipitation in the form of wet snow with rain will pass across Belarus, and severe icy conditions are expected. Wind gusts in many regions are reaching 15–20 meters per second,” Belenergo warned.

An orange level of danger remains in effect in Belarus today.
