Marharyta Vorykhava to Step Down as UTC Representative for Youth Policy

Marharyta Vorykhava is stepping down as the United Transitional Cabinet’s representative for youth policy, a position she has held since 2023. She plans to focus on building organizational and technological foundations for the Belarusian democratic forces.

“I have long believed that a movement remains alive only when it renews itself and makes room for those who are now living the Belarusian reality most directly. But this renewal must be built on experience and mentorship. That is why I have always advocated for the regular rotation of representatives, for the genuine participation of youth and civil society organizations in selecting their representatives, and for the Coordination Council to conduct the appointment process for key positions openly and transparently.

I am leaving the position of representative for youth policy to take on a broader task — building the organizational and technological foundations that the Belarusian democratic forces will need in the coming years. We must have the tools and structures that allow us to work together more safely, more securely and more effectively under constant pressure. This is not a step away from the movement, but a step toward strengthening its foundation. I want the Belarusian democratic forces to have the same quality of tools and expertise as the world’s strongest institutions, because our people deserve nothing less,” Vorykhava said.

She said she would continue to support the youth representation within the United Transitional Cabinet.

The Coordination Council will nominate a candidate for the post of the United Transitional Cabinet’s representative for youth policy. The nomination must then be approved by the head of the United Transitional Cabinet, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya. Until then, Vorykhava’s first deputy, Aliaksei Hrakhouski, will serve as acting representative.
