Russian Border Guards Photograph Passports at Border with Belarus – Mayday.Team

Russian border guards are photographing passports at the border with Belarus, Mayday.Team reports. According to human rights defenders, on April 30, ahead of the May holidays, all passengers are required to exit their vehicles and present their passports for photographing.

A traffic jam has formed on the M1 Moscow–Brest highway, with waiting times at the border of around 40 minutes. The situation is worse in the Vitsyebsk direction — at the “Rudnya” checkpoint, waiting times reach up to two hours, the resource writes. Whereas previously border guards approached vehicles themselves to check documents, drivers and passengers are now required to go to the checkpoint window on their own.
