A Wildberries sorting center in Novosemeykino in Russia’s Samara region and the Saratov Oil Refinery caught fire following Ukrainian drone strikes. There are also reports that a military air base in Engels was hit. Photos and videos have been published by local residents.
Russia’s Saratov region came under a drone attack overnight on Aug. 2. Explosions were reported in Saratov and the neighboring city of Engels, followed by large fires. The Saratov Oil Refinery, an industrial zone and a military air base used by Russia’s strategic aviation were reportedly hit.
“As a result of the UAV attack, civilian infrastructure in Saratov and Engels has been damaged. All emergency services are working at the scene. According to preliminary information, there are casualties,” Saratov Region Governor Roman Busargin wrote on his Telegram channel. He later added that two people had been killed in the attack.
The strike on the Wildberries Novosemeykino warehouse was confirmed by Samara Region Governor Vyacheslav Fedorishchev on his Telegram channel.
“The enemy attacked a Wildberries warehouse in our region using UAVs. Information on casualties is being clarified. Emergency services are working at the scene,” he wrote.
