Forecasters have issued a red-level weather warning for Sunday. On Aug. 2, daytime temperatures in parts of the Homiel region are expected to reach 35–37°C.
Temperatures in southeastern Belarus are forecast to range from 30°C to 34°C, while northwestern parts of the country are expected to see highs of around 23°C. Overnight temperatures will range from 16°C to 22°C.
Weather conditions on Sunday will be influenced by an atmospheric front, while very warm air will continue to affect southeastern Belarus during the day.
Short spells of rain and thunderstorms are forecast across most of the country overnight and in the morning. Heavy downpours and hail are possible in some areas during thunderstorms. During the day, scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected in isolated areas.
Winds will be southerly, shifting to northwesterly, and moderate, with gusts during thunderstorms. Strong gusty winds are also forecast in some areas overnight and in the morning.
