Rights Defenders Say None of Pardoned Prisoners Remaining in Belarus Have Been Released Yet

Belarusian human rights defenders have not yet recorded the release of any of the 235 political prisoners pardoned by Alyaksandr Lukashenka yesterday who were allowed to remain in Belarus. This was reported to Reform.news by representatives of Dissidentby.

The reasons why these individuals have not yet been released are unknown. It may be due to technical procedures.

“If it is a pardon, documents usually need to arrive first, then formalities are completed and the release follows. Typically, this takes several days from the signing of the decree,” representatives of Dissidentby suggested.

It should be recalled that 250 political prisoners were pardoned in Belarus yesterday as part of an agreement with the United States. It was stated that 235 people were to be released داخل the country, while another 15 were sent to Lithuania.
