Belarus is set to experience a heatwave in the coming days. Weather forecasters have issued a red alert for extreme heat. A separate orange alert has also been issued due to thunderstorms.
“On Tuesday, Aug. 4, maximum daytime temperatures in the south of the country will reach 35-36°C. On Wednesday, Aug. 5, maximum daytime temperatures will reach 30-34°C across most of the country, with temperatures of 35-38°C in some areas and in many southern districts. On Thursday, Aug. 6, maximum daytime temperatures will reach 35-40°C in many parts of the country, while some areas will see temperatures of 30-34°C,” the red alert said.
The second warning has been issued for Tuesday, Aug. 4. Thunderstorms are forecast in western Belarus, with heavy downpours and wind gusts of 15-20 metres per second expected in some areas during the storms.
