Political Prisoners, Hybrid Attacks, and Round Table — Tsikhanouskaya Adviser Holds Meetings at the White House

Political adviser to Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya Dzianis Kuchynski is in Washington on a three-day visit. He met with U.S. President Trump’s special assistant and Director for Europe Charles McLaughlin, as well as senior adviser to Vice President J. D. Vance Spiro Ballas.

The sides discussed efforts to secure the release of Belarusian political prisoners, the impact of negotiation processes around Ukraine on the situation in Belarus, the development of contacts with Ukraine following the meeting between Tsikhanouskaya and Volodymyr Zelenskyy, continued pressure on political prisoners, and hybrid attacks by the Lukashenka regime against Lithuania and Poland. They also discussed follow-up on the agreements reached at a meeting with Trump’s deputy national security adviser Andy Baker, the Tsikhanouskaya Office reported.

Kuchynski noted the importance of humanitarian efforts to free political prisoners made possible through the work of John Coale.

The talks emphasized the importance of two tracks of work: a humanitarian track aimed at the release of political prisoners and a political track focused on restoring Belarus’s sovereignty and launching democratic transformations.

Tsikhanouskaya’s adviser submitted to the White House a draft proposal by the United Transitional Cabinet on holding a round table and on a possible role for the United States as an international mediator in future democratic transformations in Belarus.
