The Polish medical laboratory network Laboratoria Medyczne Optimed was hit by a cyberattack on May 3. The company claims the attack was carried out by cybercriminals from Belarus, as noted by MOST.

“On May 3, 2026, our laboratory became the victim of a cyberattack. We identified a security incident involving unauthorized access to part of our IT infrastructure. Preliminary analysis showed that an organized group of cybercriminals from Belarus gained access to the system — it cannot be ruled out that unauthorized persons may have gained access to the data stored there,” the laboratory stated.

The attackers may have obtained access to patients’ personal data, including names, surnames, PESEL identification numbers, dates of birth, and residential addresses. In addition, the hackers may have accessed information about patients’ laboratory tests and their results.

After discovering the attack, the laboratory isolated the affected systems and introduced additional security measures.
