Drivers of two freight trains attempted to smuggle cigarettes from Belarus into Poland, the Lublin Customs and Tax Office reported.
Two freight trains traveling from Brest to the Polish town of Kobylany were inspected at the Terespol border crossing. Polish customs officers found 849 packs of cigarettes hidden in the locomotives.
The cigarettes were confiscated. The train drivers were fined 9,000 and 10,000 zlotys, respectively, or about $2,500 and $2,800.
