Belarus’s Interior Ministry reported that a corruption scheme in the road construction industry has been uncovered.
Criminal cases have been opened against five officials at enterprises in the Mahiliou, Homiel, Brest and Minsk regions.
According to police, they received bribes from bidders participating in tenders held to purchase spare parts for road construction equipment. The suspects also ensured that suppliers were paid on time in exchange for remuneration. The scheme operated for a year and a half.
The Interior Ministry’s press service said that measures are continuing to establish additional episodes and identify those involved.
