Witkoff and Dmitriev Begin Talks in St. Petersburg

US and Russian presidential envoys Steve Witkoff and Kirill Dmitriev are beginning talks in St. Petersburg. According to TASS, they have arrived at the Konstantinovsky Palace.

Earlier, Witkoff’s plane landed at Pulkovo Airport.

Witkoff flew to St. Petersburg from Oslo, where he held talks the previous day with Volodymyr Zelenskyy and representatives of several European countries. They were expected to develop proposals for ending the Russian-Ukrainian war.

Following the talks, Zelenskyy said there were clear ideas on how to achieve peace. He also reaffirmed the unity of Ukraine and its European partners.

“We want the Americans to convey these ideas to the Russians. One of the important ideas is to move towards a potential trilateral meeting of leaders to address issues that only leaders can resolve,” he said, adding that Witkoff would be in Russia on Wednesday.

“Let’s see what Putin says,” Zelenskyy said.
