A visa requirement will be introduced between Belarus and Montenegro on November 1, 2026, the Belarusian Embassy in Serbia has announced. However, Belarusians holding valid visas issued by certain countries will still be able to visit Montenegro without obtaining a separate visa.

Belarusian citizens will be able to apply for Montenegrin visas at the Embassy of Montenegro in Moscow or through VFS Global visa centres in Minsk.

As the diplomatic mission clarifies, Belarusians holding a valid visa issued by one of the following countries or jurisdictions will be allowed to enter Montenegro, transit through its territory and stay in the country for up to 30 days without a Montenegrin visa:

  • Schengen Area countries;
  • Australia;
  • Japan;
  • Canada;
  • New Zealand;
  • Ireland;
  • the United States;
  • the United Kingdom.

The visa requirement will apply in both directions: Montenegrin citizens will also need a visa to travel to Belarus. They can apply through the consular section of the Belarusian Embassy in Belgrade.

Reform.news previously reported that the Montenegrin government would end visa-free travel for Belarusians on October 31, 2026. Until that date, Belarusian citizens can enter the country without a visa and stay for up to 30 days with a valid travel document.

On September 24, the Montenegrin government approved a document calling for the termination of agreements governing visa-free travel with Belarus, Russia and Turkey. The authorities said the move was intended to bring the country’s visa policy into line with European Union rules as part of preparations for EU accession.
