Poland and the European Commission have signed an agreement on financing under the European Union’s SAFE defense program. Under the deal, the Polish state will receive €43.7 billion in loans to be used for arms procurement and the development of the defense industry.

Poland became the largest beneficiary of the SAFE program. Defense Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz assured that his ministry has projects prepared for the full amount. Dozens of contracts with contractors are expected to be signed later.

Most of the projects are expected to be carried out by Polish companies. Military equipment, weapons, and systems purchased under the program are to be delivered to the Polish armed forces by 2030.
