Poland scrambled a helicopter on September 6 after suspecting a violation of its airspace from the direction of Belarus.
Radar systems detected an unidentified object approaching from Belarus. A military helicopter was sent to the area, the Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces reported at 14:18.
An inspection showed that there had been no violation of Polish airspace and that the radars had reacted to a large flock of birds.
“The inspection established that the signals detected by radar systems were not related to a violation of Polish airspace. They were caused by a large flock of birds whose flight was detected by airspace surveillance systems. No threat to the security of the airspace of the Republic of Poland was detected”, the Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces said.
