Poland is deploying an anti-drone system along its border with Belarus. This was announced during a press briefing in Bobrowniki by Interior and Administration Minister Marcin Kierwiński.

“This tower is one of five similar observation towers built over recent months. But it is special because the first cluster of an anti-drone system is being installed on it to protect the Polish border. The system will be launched in January,” he said.

The minister declined to provide details about the installed system. He stressed that the current Polish government has invested more than 2 billion zlotys in strengthening the border.

“Our officers, border guards, police and soldiers of the Polish army can carry out their operations faster and more effectively. Our border is secure. It will remain secure thanks to modern equipment in which we are investing, and thanks to the strength and professionalism of the border guards, police and the Polish army. Ladies and gentlemen, in the outgoing year border guards faced almost 30,000 attempts to illegally cross the border. Thirty thousand illegal migrants tried to force their way across our border. They failed. This clearly shows the scale of the problem we are facing and the nature of the hybrid war that Russia and Belarus are waging against Poland and the European Union,” he added.

Kierwiński announced that next year the program to modernize services subordinated to the Interior Ministry will continue, with the Border Guard set to receive nearly 2.5 billion zlotys.

The head of the Interior Ministry and Prime Minister Donald Tusk arrived at the border to meet with border guards and soldiers stationed there. According to Tusk, more than 6,000 border guards, police officers and soldiers are currently deployed to protect the eastern border.
