Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said a Wall Street Journal report claiming that Moscow is pressuring Minsk to provide greater assistance in the war against Ukraine is untrue.
“As for the report by the publication you mentioned, it is absolutely untrue.
We have the Union State, we have a whole range of joint projects on the agenda. We have the most advanced form of integration with Belarus, which continues to develop, and Belarus is our closest ally,” Peskov said, according to TASS.
The Wall Street Journal, citing current and former Russian and European officials, reported that Moscow is pressuring Belarus by threatening to cut off the financial support on which Minsk depends. According to the report, the aim of the pressure is to secure Belarusian assistance in Russia’s war against Ukraine.
