Ministry Adds Well-Known Traveler’s Account to List of “Extremist Materials”

The Ministry of Information has once again updated its list of “extremist materials.” It now runs to nearly 2,100 pages.

Among others, the list now includes the Instagram account of well-known Belarusian traveler Aliaksandr Hoishyk (“alex_valacuga”).

In addition, the list includes:

• Instagram accounts “stas_stan_stas”, “malinov.kust”, “belaruscongress”, “andrei_pushkarou”, “prytuliaj”, “belaruscharlotte”, “@americacenterminsk”;
• the “Anzhalika Zhaliazniakova” account on Odnoklassniki.

Belarusian authorities have used extremism-related charges to target opponents and dissent more broadly.
