The Prosecutor General’s Office has referred to court a criminal case against a 43-year-old man. He is accused of murdering two elderly women and committing theft (Part 2 of Article 205, Paragraphs 1, 2, 6 and 16 of Part 2 of Article 139, and Part 3 of Article 205 of the Criminal Code).
According to the prosecution, the man was released from prison after serving his sentence on November 18, 2025. He then travelled to the village of Zabiarozauka in the Lahojsk District, where he entered a bathhouse equipped for residential use on a private property.
For a week, the accused secretly lived on the property from which he had previously stolen items.
On November 28, the 77-year-old owner of the property arrived at the summer cottage with her 70-year-old friend. The man allegedly beat both women with a stick and then switched off their mobile phones. He persuaded them to gather their belongings and hand over the keys to the garage and a Toyota vehicle, claiming that he would drive them to hospital. He also took a shovel and an axe with him.
The accused then drove the women to the area near the village of Niuki in the same district. There, prosecutors say, he pulled them from the vehicle and struck them multiple times on the head and limbs with an axe. After confirming that the women were dead, he buried their bodies.
He then returned to Zabiarozauka and stole their property, including several bottles of alcohol, chocolate bars, sweets, a cordless drill-driver, a smart camera and batteries.
The man was detained in Lahojsk on November 29.
“Notably, the man had previously served a sentence for stealing property from one of the victims at the same summer cottage in the village of Zabiarozauka, Lahojsk District, a crime he committed in 2022,” the Prosecutor’s Office added.
The accused remains in custody.
