A fire has broken out at the Amur Gas Chemical Complex in Russia. According to the company’s press service, equipment undergoing commissioning is being shut down.

The Amur Gas Chemical Complex is one of the world’s largest polyethylene and polypropylene production facilities under construction, with a combined annual capacity of 2.7 million tons. The facility was expected to produce its first batches of polyethylene this year and polypropylene in 2027.
Videos circulating online indicate that the fire is extensive, with explosions also reported.
