Alyaksandr Lukashenka said that during the combat readiness inspection conducted in Belarus, the military was placed in conditions close to wartime. He made the remarks today while summing up the results of the inspection with military officers. According to him, he wants his subordinates to know how to fight.
“I want my subordinates to be ready to fight. And if we are ready to fight, they will fear us and no one will come here. That is my goal”, Lukashenka was quoted as saying by his press service.
The inspection was officially carried out outside the framework of the Defence Ministry. Unit commanders received inspection orders signed by Lukashenka. They were delivered by representatives of the Security Council.
“We placed the participants in conditions as close as possible to real challenges. I would say even more precisely, to war. Without allowances for weather, time of day or other factors complicating the fulfilment of combat tasks”, Lukashenka added.
“The Armed Forces’ readiness to repel an enemy, their preparedness to respond instantly to any aggressive move toward our borders, is the only guarantee of peace and security for the state”, he stressed.
About 300 people were invited to today’s event at the Palace of Independence, including commanders of the units that took part in the inspection.
